Hands on experience in every aspect of vaccine research and development. From proof of concept, research, analytical, process, clinical, manufacturing, registration, quality control, and pharmacovigilance all the way through to marketing and product launch in USA, Canada, and Latin-American markets. USDA and the European Pharmacopoeia. Vaccines Developed for Rhône Mérieux, Merial (now Boehringer Animal Health). 


Continual team leader, managing various multi-department teams (Marketing, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Research, Analytical, Clinical, Process, Quality Assurance & Supply Chain) across locations and including external collaborators and off-site expert university liaisons.


Department and Project leader with various direct reports and teams, through several departmental and company re-organizations and mergers. 


My tenure also included company licensure of twelve canine and feline vaccine products registered across seven countries, Including, the first mammal recombinant vectored vaccine in the world (Recombitek® Canine Distemper canarypox vectored modified live vaccine 1997).


Millions of pets, hundreds of exotic endangered animals, and untold wildlife have benefited by the vaccines me and my team successfully brought to market. 


Specific Duties

  • Life cycle management of each Project.
  • Prepared Project Budget and Resources needs. 
  • Assessed technical project risks then developed and validated risk mitigation and backup plans. 
  • Presented Project updates. Including Risks, Mitigation and backup plans along with updated Timelines to the Vice-presidents and “Governing bodies”.  
  • Determined advancement and termination of each project.
  • Collaborated with Functional Heads to assure proper assignment of functional team members.
  • Successful teams lead to project success. My role was to mentor each team member and clearly communicate project objectives not only for how each member contributes in the larger context of franchise and company goals but individual success and growth.

USDA Vaccine Licensure

My teams and I (Rhône Mérieux / Merial / Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health) brought the following vaccines to market:


  • Canine Coronavirus MLV, monovalent and several product combination presentations: 1994
  • Recombitek® Line: Vectorized Recombinant Canine Distemper, Canarypox vectored Vaccine without adjuvant for dogs and ferrets. Various Presentations C3, C4, C6 and C8 for Dogs since 1997. (Monovalent for Ferrets in 2001 and Monovalent for Dogs in 2013) *First genetically engineered vaccine licensed for pets in the world.
  • Canine Distemper, Canarypox vectored Monovalent Vaccine for use in Ferrets; Purevax® Ferret Distemper Vaccine: 2001
  • Purevax® Feline Leukemia, Canarypox Vectored Recombinant Vaccine without adjuvant - Transdermal route: 2004
  • Recombitek 4 Lepto®. A LCIGP (4-way) inactivated non adjuvanted canine leptospira bacterin with unique 15.5-month duration of immunity against L. Grippotyphosa and Prevention claim. 2010
  • Purevax® Feline Rabies 3 year, Canarypox Vectored Recombinant Vaccine without Adjuvant: 2013
